In 1880 Chao Muen Samerjairat wrote a letter to King Chulalongkorn advising him to open a postal service in Thailand. After his approval, he appointed Prince Phanurangsee Sawangwong, who was experienced in the delivery of the daily newspaper, “Government News”. Further procedures were done for the amendments to postal service in Thailand by His Majesty.
On 25 February,1977, it came into being as “Communication Of Thailand (CAT)” as per the Communications Act of B.E 2519. This includes all the operational activities including postal services from the Post and Telegraph Department. They aim to improve and develop services to progress with system and service quality at international standards.
