History of Canada Post

Canada Post Corporation functions as a primary postal operator. Initially, Royal Mail Canada was formed by the Canadian government in 1867. However, massive rebranding happened in the late 1960s, even though it was still a part of the government. The “Canada Post” name was then adopted. On October 16, 1981, the Canada Post Corporation Act came into effect, which resulted in the Post Office Department’s removal and led to the creation of the present-day Crown corporation that administers the postal service. The act prompted a new direction for the postal service by guaranteeing the postal service’s monetary security and autonomy.
